Costco is sweetening its top-tier membership just as grocery budgets feel the pinch. Starting June 30, Executive members in Canada and the United States will automatically receive a $10 credit every month toward same-day delivery orders of $150 or more placed through Instacart or sameday.costco.ca. The perk comes on top of the plan’s two-per-cent annual reward and other service discounts, adding tangible value to the $130-a-year card many shoppers already carry.
Executives at Instacart say the expanded partnership will make large pantry restocks and bulk buys cheaper to land on doorsteps within hours—timely relief as food-store inflation still runs at 3.8 per cent even while headline CPI cools. Consumers won’t need a coupon code; the credit applies automatically once the cart total crosses the threshold, encouraging members to consolidate purchases and save an extra trip.
The move also deepens Costco’s rivalry with traditional grocers by bolstering its e-commerce footprint, an area where warehouse clubs historically lag. Analysts note that rising membership perks help retain the chain’s most profitable shoppers and could entice more households to trade up. In an era of sticky food prices and stretched paycheques, ten bucks a month delivered to your door may be just enough to keep carts—and loyalty—full.
